Futurium is a house of futures. It is home to an exhibition of living scenarios, a lab for trying things out and a forum for collaborative dialogue, all under one roof. Foreseeable, conceivable and desirable futures are presented and discussed in Futurium. At its core, it always focuses on one big question: "How do we want to live?". Find out more about us here.

Futurium thrives on big ideas – and small contributions. You can support new exhibitions, creative workshops and barrier-free services by making a donation in our donation box in the foyer or on our donation page. Futurium is open at the following times:

• Mon, Wed, Fri-Sun: 10.00 am – 6.00 pm
• Thu: 10.00 am – 8.00 pm
• Tue: closed

Opening hours may vary on public holidays and for special events. You will find more detailed information here. 

Our Skywalk – the rooftop walkway with its spectacular views – is open from spring to autumn, but may be closed at short notice due to bad weather.

Groups registered for guided tours and visitors with event tickets will be given priority admission. Last admission to Futurium is 30 minutes before closing time. 

You will find us at Alexanderufer 2, 10117 Berlin, very close to the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof). The best way to visit us is by public transport or bike.

Futurium does not have a car park of its own. However, you will find a number of multi-storey car parks nearby, including the DB BahnPark Hauptbahnhof P1 underground car park and the APCOA Luisenstraße car park.

Admission to Futurium and many of our exhibits and events is free of charge. For workshops, guided tours and events that are subject to a charge, there are discounts for school students, those in training, recipients of transfer payments, holders of the Berlin Pass, federal volunteers, university and college students and people with severe disabilities (starting from 50 per cent). Accompanying persons do not have to pay. You will find the prices in the descriptions of our individual services and events.

Does your group consist of more than 15 people? If so, please register with us free of charge. If you do not register, you may not be admitted together or you may have to wait a while if we are busy. Click here to register!

Yes, you can explore the exhibition and lab with our audio guide. We offer you a highlight tour and tours that focus on our topics "Treasures of the future" and "Future fields". Our kids' guide includes some fiendish puzzles and is ideal for children. All tours are available in German and English. The highlight tour is also available in German Sign Language and plain language. Find out more about the audio guide here. New tours are already in the pipeline and are always being added.

We offer various guided tours for young people and adults. You can choose between public tours or individual group tours. Please note that guided tours may only be conducted by persons who have been authorised by us – with the exception of teachers who are supervising their class. 

•     Our public guided tours for adults and families take place every Saturday and Sunday; on Saturdays we also give guided tours for adults in English. 
•     Our two group tours are aimed at young people, school classes and adults. "Discovering and shaping the future!" provides an overview of the entire exhibition. The second tour introduces our latest focus topic.
•     You can also take a guided tour of the exhibition in German Sign Language.

You may take bags smaller than A4 size into the exhibition. You will find free lockers for rucksacks and larger bags in the foyer (small locker: H: 37cm, D: 46cm, W: 39 cm / long locker: H: 135 cm, D: 46cm, W: 18 cm / large locker: H: 57cm, D: 46 cm, W: 37 cm.) Please bring a one euro or 50 cent coin with you. Unfortunately, we cannot provide change on site. For luggage that does not fit in our lockers, you will find suitable left-luggage facilities at the neighbouring main station. Pushchairs are allowed in the exhibition.

If you have lost an item in Futurium, please contact our staff on site or give us a call: -49 (0)30 408 189777. We charge a fee of €15 if you lose your locker key. Our lockers are emptied when we close. You can, of course, reclaim your items if you present the locker key at reception within 14 days. After that, we hand over forgotten or lost items to the central lost property office or dispose of them.

Photography and filming without a selfie stick, tripod or external flash is permitted for private use only. Otherwise you will need a photo or filming permit. Please contact our Press and Public Relations department (public.relations@futurium.de). Please respect the personal rights of visitors and our staff and do not photograph anyone without their express consent.

The Futurium exhibition is all about trying things out and taking part. So of course you can touch any of the interactive exhibits. There are some exhibits that you are not permitted to touch, however. If you are unsure or have any questions, please contact our staff.

No, unfortunately your animals have to stay outside. Guide dogs are excepted.

You can hire Futurium's event rooms – the Forum, Studio and Foyer – if your event is related to education, research, science or the future, i.e. if it fits in with the themes of Futurium. Find out more here.

Futurium is fully accessible for wheelchair users. There are disabled parking spaces on Alexanderufer. Contact us on 030-408 189777 or by email at besuchsservice@futurium.de if you would like to use one of them.

A tactile floor guidance system leads from the main entrance into the building. Visitors with visual impairments are given a tactile orientation map that they can carry with them at the information desk. We recommend bringing a companion to visit the exhibition. For visitors with hearing impairments, induction loops are available at every station of the exhibition with audio and sound and at all events.

Our school workshops and Family Open Labs at the weekends are suitable for people with learning difficulties. Our school workshop "Things from the future" is specifically designed as an accessible course.

For people with hearing impairments, we offer guided tours with translation into German Sign Language (DGS) for all age groups. Events in the Forum are accessible via a permanently installed induction loop system. At selected events, interpreters are provided to translate speech and music into sign language. Our highlight tour audio guide is also available in German Sign Language and plain language. In addition, each tour has a text transcript. Neurodiverse visitors can borrow sunglasses and hearing protection from the information desk. We organise a quiet hour at regular intervals. At these times, we dim the lights and reduce the noise in the exhibition. You will find the current times in our calendar.

Futurium is open to everyone. You will find a wind range of activities for children under the label "Futurium Kids". Families take centre stage, especially at the weekend. You can take a guided tour of the exhibition or tinker around and experiment in the lab. With our kids' guide, the audio guide especially for children, the visit becomes even more exciting: Nubi, our digital ghost, introduces you to the exhibition highlights. Or you can go on a voyage of discovery with our children's rally booklet. Our events programme also offers great events for children at regular intervals – such as our family show "Off into the future" with Clarissa Corrêa da Silva.

Into the worlds of the future! Our guided tours introduce you to the highlights of the exhibition with its three areas: Humans, Nature and Technology. You can take one of our public tours at the weekend or book a group tour. The public tour runs every Saturday and Sunday at 11.30 am and on Sundays at 2.30 pm. It lasts one hour and is recommended for children aged 6 and over. You can book a family tour here.

Would you like to be guided through Futurium as a group, perhaps for a children's birthday party? Then our bookable guided tours are the perfect choice. Our 60-minute guided tour conveys the themes of our exhibition in a clear and entertaining way to suit the age of the participants. You can book a group tour here.

Yes, Nubi, our digital ghost, leads all curious kids around ten very special exhibition stations. He happily provides you with exciting information, gets you to solve tricky puzzles and visits the other charming creatures that live in Futurium with you. Using the audio guide is very simple: log onto the Wi-Fi with your smartphone, put on your headphones, scan the QR code – and off you go!

Yes, you'll find a separate changing room on the ground floor next to the Forum.

Kinderwagen und Buggys dürfen ohne zusätzliche Taschen und andere Dinge in die Ausstellung. Laufräder, Dreiräder ( auch mit Schiebestange), Roller, Bollerwagen, Fahrradanhänger und ähnliches sind nicht erlaubt.

Strollers and buggies are permitted in the exhibition, provided they do not carry additional bags or other items. However, balance bikes, tricycles (including those with a push bar), scooters, handcarts and bike trailers are not allowed.
