Discovering Futures with Children
Futurium Kids
The Futurium is open to everyone. For children and families, we offer private tours and invite you to join our open workshops called "Family Open Lab" which take place every weekend. You prefer to explore the exhibition and Futurium Lab on your own? No problem! You will find something to discover for all age groups throughout the entire house. Online too, of course.
Where the future becomes a family adventure.
Discover, be amazed and participate — the Futurium offers a wide range of activities for children to explore the world of tomorrow. Whether grown-ups or kids, everyone can discover the future with their own eyes in the exhibition. Take part in interesting family tours, the interactive kids’ rally, or listen to the kids’ audio guide. Or invent possible future scenarios using all your imagination, for example through exciting experiments in the Family Open Lab or during the holiday program. But you can also learn a lot about possible futures at home: Check out the YouTube series “Zick, Zack, Zukunft” or get your farm ready for the future in the farming game “Future Land.”
Don't miss our interactive family quiz with Clarissa Corrêa da Silva. Speculate, laugh, and be amazed – this is where Futurium becomes a hotspot for future-minded fans who love to learn and solve riddles. It all centers around the question: What might our future look like—and who decides it? Experience surprising challenges, exciting experiments, creative team tasks, and plenty of eye-opening moments. The family interactive quiz is an entertaining show for children ages 6 to 12 and their adult companions.

Discovering futures
Exploring the future is exciting for people of all ages, as it is full of possibilities. The exhibition invites families to stay curious and think outside the box while developing their own perspectives. Every vision of the world of tomorrow holds opportunities to shape our world the way we want it to be.
And the exciting thing is that there is no single future: there are as many different possibilities as there are people on this planet. Kids can discover the museum through family tours, the Kids Rally, and the Kids Audio Guide.

Guided Tours
Into the worlds of the future! Our guided tours introduce you to the highlights of the exhibition with its three areas of Human, Nature and Technology.

Private Group Tour
How do we want to live in the future? Who hasn’t already asked themselves this question? After all, there’s no such thing as “one” future. Instead, there are as many possible and conceivable futures as there are people on Earth dreaming of tomorrow and the day after. The 60-minute tour conveys the themes of our exhibition in an easily understandable and entertaining way tailored towards the age of the participants. You can book your group tour here.
Kids’ Guide
Here’s something for your ears: with our audio guide for kids, your visit to Futurium is about to become even more of a multimedia experience. Nubi, our digital ghost, will be guiding all curious kids to ten very special points in the exhibition. He’ll cheerfully provide them with exciting information, let them solve tricky puzzles and take them on a visit to the other charming creatures living at Futurium.
Using the audio guides is as easy as it gets: log into the Wi-Fi with your smartphone, put on your headphones, scan the QR code – and off you go! Don't have your own smartphone? Then you can also borrow a device.
Children’s Rallye
Discovering futures on your own? Pick up our children's rallye booklet "Off to the Future" (available in English and German) at the information counter in the foyer and dive into Futurium! All you need is a pen and a curiosity for new things. Have fun with it!
Futurium
Inventing futures
Inventing the future means generating ideas, testing them, and experimenting. Everyone — young and old alike — can help actively shape our world through creativity and participation. At the Futurium Lab and in the holiday program for kids, you can try out exciting experiments using methods from futurology and design, and work together to develop prototypes.

Family Open Lab
Every Sunday from 12:00–16:00, we offer our Family Open Lab. You can explore questions about the future at Futurium Lab and playfully learn about the technical basics in robotics, 3D printing, programming or laser cutting.
What awaits you:
- Ideas for the future of democracy. Use augmented reality and stickers to develop your ideas for living together tomorrow.
- Logistics of the future. You will think about future logistics solutions with small learning robots.
- 3D printing. Try out new production techniques when you make objects by hand or with our machines in the workshop.
- Raw materials of the future. You will learn what "urban mining" is and develop your own product ideas.
The workshop themes alternate, offer different levels of difficulty and are suitable for everyone aged 10 and over.
Our workshop mentors speak English. They will be happy to assist you with the experiments and workshop. Just drop by the Futurium Lab on Sundays between 12:00 and 16:00. The workshops take place in a drop-in format, which means you can join in at any time. Free entrance. You can find all dates in our event list!
Holiday programm
Feeling bored during the holidays? Not if you come to Futurium! In our three-day holiday workshop, you’ll learn about methods of futurology. You’ll explore the exhibition, conduct interviews, and develop your own future scenarios. And then you’ll bring your visions to life as prototypes. You’ll use various tools to do this, such as 3D printers and laser cutters. Finally, you’ll present your ideas and prototypes.
You can find the dates for the three-day holiday workshop in our event calendar.

Experiencing futures
Discover more about possible futures today and explore with curiosity how the world of tomorrow might change: whether through the eyes of the kid reporters in the YouTube series or by trying out the farming simulation — these media formats invite children to explore the future in a playful way, even from home. They show that the future is an exciting opportunity that every child can help to shape in a conscious and self-determined way.

YouTube Series “Fast, Forward, Future”
“Fast, Forward, Future” (“Zick, Zack, Zukunft”) is Futurium’s YouTube series with and for children. Should children be given the right to vote? How might our cities become more climate-friendly? Will we soon be relaxing on Mars? Young reporters ask Futurium’s experts their own questions on future-related topics: from robots and space travel to environmental protection. Five episodes, five topics of the future. Have a look!
Playing and Learning
Just like on a real farm, your hands are your best tools when it comes to growing your farming business in our brand-new agricultural game. But it’s harder than you might think. You’ll constantly face challenges that need to be solved. Work your way through the obstacles, show off your green thumb, and get your farm ready for the future. “Future Land” is rated for ages 0 and up. (Only in German)
Database of Hopes
All over the world, people have ideas and wishes about what the future should look like. Explore the Database of Hopes to see how others envision the world of tomorrow. Or submit your own idea right now!
