Mitforsch-Workshop: Microplastics
Microplastics are everywhere in our waterways. In this workshop, Dr. Kat Austen will describe DIY chemistry methods for investigating microplastics in aquatic environments. Participants will become familiar with the different types of plastic and how they can be isolated.

There will be quick hands on activities that show extraction and characterization of microplastics from water, and identifying types of plastic by means of an easy to make DIY density column. Please bring a sample of plastic from your everyday life, if you’d like to identify a sample (we need to cut a piece of it off).
