FAQ – your event at Futurium
What makes Futurium such a special event venue?
Futurium is the House of Futures. Through its exhibitions, lab and programme of events, it not only offers fascinating insights into the world of tomorrow but also embodies a visionary spatial concept in its own right. It was created by the Berlin-based architects Richter Musikowski, and the design comprises clear, sculptural forms in combination with openness and accessibility. The fully accessible event spaces are bathed in natural light and, with modern, flexible event technology, provide the perfect setting for your individual event. And then there is its location – in the immediate vicinity of Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Central Station) and the government district – which makes Futurium a truly special event venue.
What are the requirements for an event?
Futurium sees itself as a venue for exhibitions and dialogue in the areas of education, research and science – always with a particular focus on issues relating to the future. For your event to take place at Futurium, it must be related to these topics. We therefore ask that you explain the nature of your event in your booking enquiry.
At what times can my event take place?
Your event can take place both during and outside normal opening hours: the Forum and Studio are available to you at any time, with no restrictions. The Foyer can only be used exclusively for your event outside opening hours – but you can book a section of it during normal opening hours.
What services does Futurium provide?
Certain aspects of the organisation, running and follow-up of your event will be handled exclusively by Futurium. We are supported in this by an events service provider and framework agreement partner. It is responsible for event management from set-up to dismantling, acts as your point of contact on site and coordinates the staffing services required. Project managers, set-up and dismantling assistants, cloakroom attendants, security personnel and cleaning staff are always provided by our service provider. Depending on the size of the event, additional services may be required, such as drawing up seating plans, technical management, technicians and event hosts/hostesses.
If you require any additional services for your event – such as special furniture, specific technical equipment, set design, creative services, consultancy, etc. – you are also welcome to contact the agency.
What facilities can be booked at Futurium?
With flexible furniture arrangements and state-of-the-art technology, we ensure your event is perfectly staged. Whether it’s sound, lighting, stage and multimedia technology, Wi-Fi or streaming – you can source all your technical equipment through Futurium. With a range of chairs and armchairs, tables, lecterns and other furniture, we can set up your event exactly as you wish.
Can I use my own catering service?
You are free to choose your own catering company. Your hire only includes a 37-square-metre catering preparation room, which is equipped with water and waste water facilities and a (high-voltage) electricity supply.
You can book the Futurium restaurant outside opening hours as an extension of the event space.
How do I get to Futurium?
Futurium is situated in the immediate vicinity of Berlin Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) and is therefore very easy to reach by public transport. From the Washingtonplatz exit, it is only a 350-metre walk to Futurium. You can find the best route for you here. We do not have our own car park, but there are managed parking spaces and multi-storey car parks in the surrounding area.
Is Futurium accessible to people with disabilities?
Futurium is fully accessible to wheelchair users. There are seven accessible parking spaces available in the forecourt. A stage ramp can be hired through our service provider.
In the foyer, a tactile floor guidance system leads from the entrance to the event area and from there into the event rooms.
For visitors with hearing impairments, permanently installed and pre-set induction loops are available in the "Forum" event room.

What role does sustainability play at Futurium?
The principle of sustainability is deeply rooted in Futurium’s identity. The building meets the standards of a nearly zero-energy building and is therefore a flagship project in terms of both architecture and urban planning within the German sustainability landscape. It has been awarded the Gold certificate under the Sustainable Building Assessment System for Federal Buildings (BNB). The building’s advanced energy concept uses 100 per cent green electricity, incorporates its own renewable energy from its photovoltaic and solar thermal systems and includes technologies such as heat recovery systems.
Thanks to its central location, Futurium is easily accessible by public transport. Bicycle parking spaces also support sustainable mobility.
