Hello Future! Open Doors with the TV Mouse at Futurium

On 3 October, we’ll be hosting the nationwide action day “Hello Future! Open Doors with the Mouse” organised by public broadcaster WDR. From 10:00 to 18:00, Futurium will be letting children – and anyone else with a bit of curiosity – take a peek behind doors that are normally kept shut. Fans of the children’s TV show “Sendung mit der Maus” (“The Show with the Mouse”) will be able to find out how we can go about imagining the future and how concepts of the future can be exhibited.

“Open Doors with the Mouse” will be the motto on 3 October – and Futurium will be opening several of its doors for visitors: in the exhibition, in the workshop, and in the basement too. Together with the Futurium team, children – and anyone else with a bit of curiosity – will have a chance to explore the question of how we can go about imagining the future and how concepts of the future can be exhibited.

The programme highlights will include, among other things, encounters with Futurium’s robots, a family quiz on the world of tomorrow, workshops full of fun, and a guided tour in search of energy in the Futurium building. A hatch will spring open here, a crack there, and in the end, even the floor itself will be gaping open. Our technical team will be taking visitors behind the scenes at Futurium to show them a world that not even our own staff normally gets to see. Visitors will be able to crawl behind the exhibition façade and find out for themselves what the world looks like when you’re an exhibit.

This year, the broadcaster WDR is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its “Open Doors with the Mouse” action day, which, this time around, is dedicated to the future. The “Mouse” wants to show children places where crazy ideas, exciting projects and interesting plans for a future worth living in are created. And Futurium is one of them. Already back in August – on the first day of the month – our House of Futures granted the “Sendung mit der Maus” a little glimpse behind the scenes.
