Family Open Lab: The crazy world of the quantum

What can be in many places at the same time and simply pass through walls? Sounds like magic, but it's a physical phenomenon: welcome to the crazy world of the quantum!
There is already more quantum physics in our everyday lives than we realise. And quantum technology could also fundamentally change the way we communicate, research and solve problems in the future.

Open Lab Weekend

You can immerse yourself in quantum physics at the interactive stations in the Futurium lab. Through puzzles, games and short explanatory videos, you will discover phenomena and technologies and understand the importance of quantum physics in our society. By the end of it all, you will realise that quanta are not so remote from your daily lives as you thought.

Our mentors will be there to assist you at the stations and answer your questions. Unlike our traditional workshops, the drop-in workshop has an open format. You will need about 20 minutes for your first explorations in the world of the quantum. If the lab is particularly busy, you may not be able to try out all the stations straight away. So keep your options open and get involved in some of the other exciting topics!

This programme is sponsored by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation.
