Designing resilient cities with MVRDV

By 2030, 60% of the world`s population is predicted to live in cities, facing numerous challenges. What does it take to make cities share resources and livable for all residents?

With the growing adverse effects of climate change, resource shortages, pollution, and the destruction of biodiversity, just to name a few, we urgently have to find measures to minimize environmental damage. Urban resilience has emerged as one crucial area in this task.

Have you ever thought about what it means to make a city resilient? During this Open Lab Night, we will investigate how we may be able to do that. First,

Prof. Nathalie de Vries, a founding partner of MVRDV, Rotterdam, will deliver a lecture reflecting on resilience in her projects.

After her lecture, we will embark on a short trip into the future. With Stefanie Holzheu of Futurium, you will explore and develop your own future scenario of what resilient cities and communities of the future could look like: wilder, crazier, more exciting, more rewarding, and better.
