“tech for a sustainable future” at Futurium

Climate change – is technology the solution or the problem?

Climate change is threatening our world. Every ton of emitted CO2 contributes to global warming. Technology plays a contradictory role in this regard: it helps reduce emissions, but also causes them. Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Dr. Robert Habeck, will be discussing the role of innovations and technologies for a better future with Professor Dr. Jutta Allmendinger, Professor Dr. Michael Sterner and Andreas Urschitz.

The event “tech for a sustainable future” is part of a series of events organised by Infineon Technologies.

On the one hand, technology plays a crucial role in the development of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and hydro power. It enables more energy-efficient devices and industrial processes, as well as clean mobility. On the other hand, energy-intensive digital technologies such as data centres require large amounts of electricity and thereby increase CO2 emissions.

Join us as we talk with players from politics, society and science, discuss pressing issues around climate change and critically examine the role of technology in this context.
