Quiet Hour

We invite you to Quiet Hour – a particularly peaceful visiting experience in the exhibition and the Lab. During this time, we dim bright lights, switch off loud or ongoing sound effects (including particular installations) and do not hold guided tours or make announcements. The number of visitors is also limited to ensure there is more space and to create a relaxed atmosphere.

Quiet Hour is primarily intended for people who are sensitive to sensory stimuli – for example, people on the autism spectrum or with sensory needs. Senior visitors, people with chronic conditions or Long Covid are equally welcome – and, of course, anyone who would like to enjoy a quieter museum visit without the distractions of a busy environment.

We welcome you to join us for a stress-free experience.

Good to know

• You’re welcome to drop in during the Quiet Hour – no booking required! Entry is free. The Futurium is fully wheelchair accessible throughout.
• On the ground floor, our Studio is available for you to use as a quiet room – you’ll find it directly opposite the entrance. There’s also a quieter area in the Lab in the basement. However, this has not yet been fully sealed off.
• You can borrow noise-cancelling headphones from reception in the entrance area. You can also use the provided earplugs, sunglasses and fidget toys free of charge. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own noise-cancelling headphones and any other aids you rely on. We’ve marked the louder and more stimulating areas on the sensory map, which you can download here. You can also find this overview at reception on site.
• If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to approach our staff at any time. You can recognise them by their orange name badges and dark clothing.
