As Director, the 45-year-old cultural manager has played a decisive role since 2017 in all matters relating to Futurium’s content. Together with Commercial Director Nicole Schneider, he successfully led Futurium to its opening in September 2019. Since then – despite several months of closure due to COVID-19 lockdowns – more than 650,000 people have visited the House of Futures with its exhibition, Forum and Lab. Under his leadership, Futurium has throughout this time enhanced and intensified its digital programme to provide an online platform open to everyone interested in discussing the central question “How do we want to live?”.
“I’m very pleased to enjoy the confidence of the Supervisory Board and I’m delighted to be allowed to continue to play my role as part of the great Futurium team. Our increasingly polarised society needs places where it remains possible to engage in open and constructive exchanges about ideas relating to the future. And Futurium is one such place: here, players from science, politics, business, culture and civil society discuss approaches to solving the major challenges of the future. For the next few years, we’ve once again set ourselves many goals to accomplish: for instance, adding special exhibitions to our permanent exhibition and creating a future festival with partners from science and culture. We want to encourage as many people as possible to help shape a sustainable future,” says Stefan Brandt.
The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Futurium, Professor Dr Wolf-Dieter Lukas, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is pleased that Dr Brandt will continue to lead and shape Futurium in the coming years: “Stefan Brandt and his team have turned Futurium into a spectacular and prestigious venue for debating questions of the future. His reappointment provides stability and demonstrates our confidence in him.”
