A debate on the future between science and industry
Climate protection. The same goals! The same path?
This event is all about climate protection. Antje Boetius, Director of the Alfred Wegener Institute, is a common advocate in the public climate crisis debate for a significant tightening of climate protection. Martin Brudermüller, chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF, also sees himself and BASF as a strong driver of this.
Both agree that it must be the goal and necessity to act in the interest of climate protection. However, a climate researcher and the representative of the world's largest chemical company are at the same time unequal actors in the climate debate. They fulfill different functions and consider different perspectives in their projects.
So how do the two discuss necessary measures and their effects on climate protection? How do they assess the compatibility of common economic goals, such as economic growth, with climate protection goals? Where do they see the responsibility of politics and industry to bring about change? The same goals – the same path? We would like to discuss this with Antje Boetius and Martin Brudermüller.
