For many people, artificial intelligence is more than a technology: an adviser, assistant, confidant or projection screen for our ideas and desires. Conversations with AI chatbots can create the feeling of being understood, at any time and without fear of rejection. Will this change us – as individuals or even as a society? Whether AI becomes a meaningful complement to our lives or leads to problematic dependence, one thing will be crucial: how much space we choose to give AI in the future.

Is This AI?

Taking a selfie, uploading it, waiting for likes and comments … that was then. The internet of the future will no longer be made by humans alone: AI generates texts, images, voices and videos – not always grounded in truth or reality. AI assistants are replacing search engines, summarizing content, preparing it for us and adding further information. The boundaries between credible news, deepfakes, entertainment and manipulation are becoming increasingly blurred. What can we do to find our way through the online maze?
