The invisible city
At home, in the neighbourhood, in the megacity: Data about us and our environment is constantly being captured and analysed. Centralised systems are even supposed to manage entire cities in real-time.
We live surrounded by connected devices: from smartphones to intelligent home control systems to surveillance cameras. In many places in our home and in public life, data about us and our environment is constantly being captured and analysed. This way, buildings are to consume less energy, city life is to become safer and more convenient, not to mention as environmentally friendly as possible.
In many, often neglected, city districts around the world, however, hardly any data is gathered at all. Sometimes, this prompts people to take digital networking in their own hands. Whether at home, in the neighbourhood or in the megacity: those who have access to data also expand their control and power. Who will decide in the future, what kind of data will be collected where?
