Across the city and countryside
Whether in the big city or the countryside, our everyday life mostly plays out between our home, place of work or school, and places for leisure activities. A lot of time is spent thereby traveling from point A to point B or C– often in a car. This is bad for the environment and for people’s health. But car traffic is growing: in the planning of many cities or regions travelling with one’s own car continues to play a role.
Climate-friendly and socially equitable changes in transport policy and planning cannot be achieved thisway. But alternative solutions already exist. There’s a suitable means of transport for every route and every environment: from bicycles to express buses, cable cars, or, in future, self-driving shuttles.
