Just Add People is a game that highlights the connection between architecture and society. Between wooden rods, neon-yellow connectors, and brightly colored tape, brand-new, useless, and necessary links are formed—between people, objects, and their surroundings.

Futurium’s first special exhibition, “Ocean Futures,” explores how we can work together to ensure a more equitable and regenerative future for our oceans—both locally and globally. The exhibition also marks the launch of a new format for international dialogue between the Global South and North: The Mind Museum in the Philippines, a partner of “Ocean Futures,” is simultaneously presenting an exhibition on the future of the oceans. During the joint opening hours, you’ve been able to interact live with visitors on the other side of the globe via the “Ocean Portal” since the opening.

Imagine it's the year 2070: a fish is swimming in the depths of the ocean. Is it all alone in murky water or surrounded by a colourful shoal of other fish in a sea teeming with life? This family tour takes you on an interactive journey into the future. Using your imagination, you explore scenarios at stations with hands-on activities and develop your own ideas about the oceans of tomorrow. In doing so, you are training your futures literacy – the ability to think about future scenarios so that you are aware of how you are shaping the present.

Imagine that you yourself could produce everything you need for your everyday life right there at home. How would our lives change if we could build things ourselves in the future? And how does this actually work? In this open workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the world of 3D printing. We’ll show you every step – from the design to the finished product. With the help of TinkerCad you can then create your own designs – without needing any prior knowledge. Learning materials and mentors will be available to support you.

A flower drone? A helmet that makes the world a better place? A solar-powered happiness machine? There are endless ways to imagine the future — what wishes, dreams, and ideas do we have? Here, we tinker, draw, build sculptures, and discuss the future. Together, we’ll invent our own world of (as yet) unknown wonders that must not be missing from a museum of the future. With pen, paper, a laser cutter, and a computer, we’ll create brand-new, essential inventions.

Where would we be without agriculture? Whether it’s our morning coffee, the cotton in our clothes, or the wood in our furniture—so much of it starts with agriculture. Yet it also contributes to climate change and is itself affected by it. On our tour, we’ll explore exciting ideas for how land can be farmed and used better and more sustainably in the future. We’ll talk about indoor farming, agri-photovoltaics, and the Fairy Bot. Never heard of them? We’ll shed some light on the subject — right down to the depths of our soil!

The exhibition at Futurium presents different futures. Visitors can discover exciting options for the future in the thinking spaces of technology, nature and mankind and develop their own attitudes to controversial topics. The highlights of the exhibition are explained with illustrative examples.

Disguised as ordinary visitors, you’ll be wandering inconspicuously around the exhibition, helping a scientist solve a mysterious case. What begins as a harmless exploration tour will soon unfold into an ingenious crime story, as part of which you’ll have to complete a series of tricky puzzles and tasks in order to emerge as unscathed as possible. But don’t worry – the only thing you’ll need is the right amount of team spirit.

Come with us on a journey through the issues and conflicts of our raw-material worlds. You’ve never experienced Futurium like this before!

Our heartiest congratulations! You’ve been chosen for something special by the Agency for Applied Futurology! As part of a small group, you’re going to be sent to the year 2046 in our time machine. Your mission? As undercover democracy-testers, you’ll be heading to the government quarter to check out some of the democratic innovations now in place there: for instance, the legal advocate for nature, the veto rights for future generations, and the drawing of lots for democratic representatives. The goal? To find out if these ideas can help us make our own democracy more equitable, sustainable and diverse in the future.
