Something is happening around the Humboldt Basin and Invalidenstrasse this summer. For the first time, the neighbourhood is joining forces and inviting you to rediscover the area – between water and paths, indoors and outdoors, exhibitions and activities. We open up spaces, connect places and thus set art, science, innovation, history and the future in motion. A weekend for exchange, encounters and unusual formats – in the centre of Berlin, among people. Come along and experience how the neighbourhood tells a new story!

On June 13, 2026, the MuseumsMeileMitte will host its first major neighbourhood festival. On this day, the four museums will open their doors to the public and bring the urban space between them to life. Come by and experience the MuseumsMeileMitte as an open space for connection, movement, and exchange. Rediscover the neighbourhood—between water and paths, indoors and outdoors—with special programs, guided tours, workshops, and many surprises. A vibrant programme of exhibitions, talks, music, guided tours, performances and activities for children and families will take place between the Hamburger Bahnhof, Futurium, the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of the History of Medicine.
Admission is free at all four museums and at all other venues!

10:00 – 18:00 | Improvisational Theatre: Improvisionäre – Moving News
The Futurium becomes a post office: from here, the Improvisionäre act as messengers, sending visitors’ thoughts, questions and perspectives on a journey through the neighbourhood. What do we have in common, where do our perspectives differ – and what still holds us together?
In analogue chain letters, ideas travel between the various institutions. The audience now becomes postmen and women themselves, passing on thoughts and bringing the neighbourhood into conversation with one another. A playful exchange about living together today and tomorrow.

We invite you not only to discover futures, but to build them together. Amidst wooden sticks, neon-yellow connectors and brightly coloured spray chalk, brand-new, useless and necessary relationships emerge – just as they do between people, objects and environments. With child’s play ease, you can build, reshape and tear down worlds through collaborative processes and exciting mission cards.

11:45 – 12:45 | Guided tour: Diving into the future: Futures Literacy and the oceans of tomorrow
Imagine it’s the year 2070: a fish is swimming in the depths of the ocean. Is it alone in the murky water, or surrounded by a colourful school in the teeming sea? On this family tour, you’ll embark on an interactive journey into the future. Using your imagination, you’ll explore scenarios at interactive stations and develop your own ideas for the oceans of tomorrow. In doing so, you’ll practise futures literacy – the ability to imagine futures in order to consciously shape the present. The tour is recommended for children aged 6 and over.

12:00 – 16:00 | Family Open Lab – Our raw materials of the future
Imagine if the raw materials of the future could be right there in our drawers! Together, we’ll dive into the world of ‘urban mining’ and discover how we can collect raw materials sustainably in our city. As a family, you can playfully develop sustainable products from the components of old mobile phones. We expect you to spend around 20 minutes in the lab. This drop-in session is organised in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research e.V. on behalf of its Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS.

Our quiz masters Tom and Darren have once again put together a colourful mix of questions for you. It’s all about general knowledge and everything that makes a neighbourhood tick. Anyone can join in and win – no specialist knowledge is required. Instead, it’s all about collective wisdom – and perhaps a little luck. So grab your family, friends or your favourite neighbours and join in the fun.

The exhibition at Futurium presents different futures. Visitors can discover exciting future options in the ‘Technology’, ‘Nature’ and ‘People’ reflection spaces and develop their own views on controversial topics. The highlights of the exhibition are explained using clear examples.

18:30 – 19:30 | Concert – Event Marching Brass
Forget marching music – here come brass beats with glitter and costumes! Anyone who thinks of military roll calls and shooting festivals when they hear ‘fanfare’ will be disappointed. Because “Fanfare Gertrude” brings the joie de vivre of French street music to Germany. Over 25 musicians breathe new life into pop and rock songs with trumpets, trombones, clarinets, flutes, saxophones, tubas and other instruments. It’s going to be loud, colourful and danceable – no uniforms, but 100 per cent fun!
