Thinking Space Nature

Vicious cycles

We release waste and pollution into the environment every day. Although we diligently separate our rubbish, there are still enough things that end up in places where they don’t belong. Large plastic parts, invisible fertiliser residues and even poisons and residues of medicine end up in bodies of water and continue to spread there.

This is an enormous problem for one of Earth’s most important ecosystems: the sea. The oceans stabilise our climate and provide a habitat for numerous species. Harmful substances not only contaminate life in water, but ultimately end up back where they came from: with us. We absorb pollutants through our drinking water, for example, or when we eat fish.
