Neo-Nature in time-lapse

How do you actually build such a large sculpture?

We live in an environment made by humans. This "new nature" (neo-nature) is constantly being transformed by our actions. lf we allow ourselves to be more inspired by nature in shaping the environment, fascinating results can be achieved. The large wooden sculpture shows what this can look like. lt gives the impression of a growing, natural structure because its appearance is based on an assemblage of tiny organisms.

The shapes of the individual wooden elements were calculated by an algorithm in such a way that a complex, unique object could be formed from only eleven different wooden components. The sculpture is thus the result of a close interplay between nature and technology. Technology also played an important role in the assembly process: The artisans used augmented reality glasses to virtually visualise the correct placements of the 2,000 wooden elements and 11,500 meta l parts.
